Ritual Sacrifices (no Religion topic!)

Making human sacrifice a DLC allows the devs to avoid a higher ESRB rating, too.
DLC is separate

And allows the game player the chose of how and what they want to play. I think Civ 5 add a DCL for religion.

I think sacrifices should be in the option menu. If you want them you press a check on it. Bam everyone happy.

Lets see what the devs think about this whole thing

Our actual position is to depict the ancient societies with its lights and shadows but in cases where that creates rating problems. All that creates a rating problem will be very likely included in a properly rated DLC.

Yes!!!

Hooray!!!

Realism DLC!
I hate nerfing games for ESRB/Steam (though I totally understand why it must be).

\o/

That seems like the most reasonable approach to me.

Glad this was given proper attention.

yep, i never used any supernatrural event in a game , so i donìt need it. it’s ok to pray an idol or a big tree like a lot of religion ( indian apache) for example. but for me the supernatural power of the gamer it’s no so good idea

It will probably give a bonus to morale because the people would be firm believers in their god’s powers
… which often did not help during the crusades

So was this (by a few clever fanatics?) Interpreted and written down. Everyone must believe for themselves …
Religion is very complicated

Would like to agree. But since this game is not just about knowledge - gain, I see another aspect. Our ancestors have certainly tried to understand the human body. The one, to heal, the others wanted to find the “soul” and again others the capabilities of the victim. The methods were certainly terrible from today’s perspective. And yet they formed the basis of our modern medicine. Research in neolitics.
What happens, if I do a victim of this or that? Do not want to deepen this, you know what I mean? At some point it started somehow.
Another aspect would be the call of a people/tribe. How does the statement, “they are cruel”, arise? This is not easy. You have to think of something. And there will be some protection. Would I attack “the” if I as a prisoner had to count on being sacrificed?

And often it did, like in the siege of Antioquia with the holy lance discovery.
In fact, even if the lead reason was different, without the firm crusaders beliefs, the first crusade itself probably would have never happened.

applied to the most of small people. Think, a little bit of adventure and striving for profit and land was already in the game. Antioch has worked, during the later trip from Jerusalem to the desert has ended the overvaluation of the cross in a disaster. Faith can move mountains, but not without a realistic plan.

Are you mocking Christ, Christians, or the far right Christians which ever believe has?

I would say if it was not for the Pope and the b.s. he created the crusades would not have happened. Having faith is awesome but if directed wrongly can lead to all sorts of problems. But AC what does this have to do with the game that you are creating and you have already stated

. Also, you pointed out this is not about Mid Century Europe about the bronze age.

Fanatics? Are you calling God of the old and new testament fanatical? For it was he who directed people to write things down? Boy, you are about to set off a nuclear bomb with that thought. Making a statement about a major belief is not a good idea. We are not here to discuss my beliefs or other peoples beliefs but the what ideas we can bring to the game.
Also, in my opinion, we have a duty to say to the developers that what we like and what we do not like. This gives them the feedback they need to design the game. If one person yells in the forest most likely there are others too but are not saying anything. If AC wants to put ancient beliefs into the game so be it. If they want to put cannibalism into the game so be. But I am one person that is saying I do not want cannibalism in the game. If I can avoid the spiritual part of the game great, if not it is my choice to play or not to play the game. I talk about this issue from my perspective and not others to help the game builders.

As the statement “Everyone must believe for themselves” this is very true and they must choose what to believe in and as such how they will play the game.

like the topic on gender, this one is very sensitive because religion is a part of us. As an atheist, I never try to persuade someone who belive in god that there is no god because for him god is a part of himself it cannot be remove. I only fight back if they try to convert me.

However, I think belief in general was very important in History and is a must have in this game. Most of man greast creation (in this time) were link to religion/belief. Stone temples like the one in England or Malta are good examples.

Moreover, a lot of european pagan belief/festivals had been incorporate in Christian religion :

 • Chrismas was the winter festival, when you can see the sun rise again in the sky
 • Saint John’s Eve was the harvest festival
 • The Annunciation was the Vernal equinox celebration

I understand that your belief made you uneasy to “play” with religion but these ancient beliefs are part of your History and part of your religion History. If they are remove it will feel very unrealistic.

I think most people do not care if there is a religion different from their own in a game. Afterall nobody asks them to believe in it and it is just a game.

I would be very disappointed if religion were remove due to this concern.

@badbear

Please dude, chill out.

@tschuschi used a very common practice: a question between brackets is a very common way to indicate the writer doesn’t have any answer to the very question he’s asking.

Regarding his whole sentence

you conveniently choose to erase the “s” to divert what he means and try to make us believe he speaks about God. This is clearly visible in your own sentence

As for the next sentence, you’re trying to impose us your own conception of the world:

I understand the faulty “he” (instead of “He”!) as God himself. If this is well the case you’re totally hurting my own conception of the world with such an unproven affirmation.

I really don’t want this forum to become one where someone may impose his personal view of the world to an entire community that’s not here to suffer any form of proselytism – whatever religious, atheist or political proselytism.

So, please, very please: just erase your posts, I’m sure @tschuschi may agree to erase “(by a few clever fanatics)” if you consider this may be hurting, I’ll erase my own post. Then every personal grudge may be forgotten and this thread may come back to the stated topic: ritual sacrifices.
If this is not done, you’ll oblige the devs to have a strong moderation policy, which will take a part of their time, and as such be negative for both A.C. development and the discussions related to the game.

This statement is true, I agree komplete.
No, I doubt only in much the objectivity of the respective author

Think this bomb was fired a long time ago and so slowly we recover from the consequences
In my youth I had to deal with the subject of the Bible - and those who firmly believe in it. The strongest impression of this has emerged - intollerance and fanaticism. Pardon. The Old Testament touches the game later in the game. Think of Moses and the book-judges and Isaiah.
Please feel not attacked, that was not the goal.

Think, with this we can live well and meet as equal partners

Let us stay relaxed. Controversial opinions are the salt in the soup. It is a delicate issue, of which we should be aware. We should also be aware of the fact that we are part of the development of a game that could shock us (maybe) if it were 100% realistic.
